Crestone End-of-Life Project
Have you ever thought about having a "Viking Funeral?" If you move to Colorado, you can. The Crestone End-of-Life Project (CEOLP) is a non-denominational, community-based organization located in Crestone, Colorado, within Saguache County. It is dedicated to promoting informed end-of-life choices and supporting their fulfillment for local residents. CEOLP is notably recognized for offering one of the only legal, non-sectarian open-air cremation sites in the United States.
Established to serve the residents of Crestone and the surrounding Baca Grande area, CEOLP's services are exclusively available to individuals residing within Saguache County. The organization emphasizes community involvement, allowing family and friends to participate actively in the end-of-life process. Their offerings include open-air cremation ceremonies, natural burial options, and support for home funeral choices.
CEOLP operates in conjunction with Informed Final Choices (IFC), a sister organization that provides educational resources and workshops on end-of-life planning, including advance directives and family-directed home funerals.
